Markus Koller, Full Professor of History of the Ottoman Empire and Modern Turkey at Ruhr-Universität Bochum and Managing Director of the RUB Centre for Mediterranean Studies, is author of Eine Gesellschaft im Wandel – die osmanische Herrschaft in Ungarn im 17. Jahrhundert (Stuttgart, Steiner, 2010), Bosnien an der Schwelle zur Neuzeit (München, Oldenbourg, 2004), and numerous articles and book editions on the Ottoman Empire, Turkey, and South-Eastern Europe.
